Which F-Gas Category Do You Need?

There are four F-Gas qualification categories, but Category I is by far the most widely recognised and requested qualification within the industry.

• ✅ Category I – The industry standard and the qualification most employers require. It allows engineers to install, commission, service, maintain, repair, leak check and recover refrigerants from stationary refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump systems.
• Category II – Less common and mainly suited to engineers working only on smaller systems with limited activities.
• Category III – Rarely delivered as a standalone qualification and primarily covers refrigerant recovery only.
• Category IV – Typically required only for personnel carrying out leak inspections.
